Grassy Hill Country Club, Orange, CT

General Information:

The Rules of Golf as adopted by the United States Golf Association govern play. This information sheet, the USGA Hard card, and any site specific Local Rules and Conditions of Competition sheets are supplements to the Rules of Golf. Local Rules of Grassy Hill Country Club will apply as noted.

Event Details:

There is one division – Team Quota. There will be three flights by handicap determined by Golf Genius. Each

member will keep their gross only scores on their scorecard.  A standard Grassy Hill Scorecard is sufficient. Scorecards must be signed, attested and returned to the Pro-shop post round for official scoring. Golf Genius will post your score directly to your GHIN.  Members age 65 and over may play from Green tees.  All other member may choose to play White or Blue tees.  Please note on scorecard tees played, last name and GHIN number.

Each two-man team will subtract their combined course handicap from 72, and what remains is the point total (quota) they must beat during the round.  The winner is the team who exceeds their quota by the most. For each hole points are awarded based on the following scoring format –

Quota Format: Ace = 6. Double Eagle = 5. Eagle = 4. Birdie = 3. Par = 2. Bogey = 1. Double = 0. Triple or Worse = -1.

Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round. Penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.

Distance Measuring Devices:

For all play in GHMA events a player may obtain distance information using a device that measures distance only.

Local Rules:

All stone walls on the golf course have been determined to be integral parts of the course and are not immovable obstructions. Play the ball as it lies or take an un-playable lie with penalty. These stone walls are located but not limited to, along the left side of Hole 2, the stone wall that separates 12, 15, & 16, and the right of hole 16.

For hole 10, if a ball comes to rest between the greenside curbing (blue line) and white stakes, a free lift is permitted but the ball must be dropped in a designated drop area. If a ball comes to rest between the white stakes and the Clark Lane (includes property across the street) the ball must be dropped in a designated drop area with a one stroke penalty. This rule is for GHMA events and may defer from what is written on the Grassy Hill scorecard.

Relief may be obtained from concrete, blacktop, gravel, and mulch cart paths under the following conditions:  areas adjacent to cart paths if the lie, stance, or swing is affected by loose gravel, areas worn by cart traffic, areas not healed by construction or washed out by weather. Also includes flower beds and landscaped areas enclosed by cart paths.

Trophies & Prizes:

This event will pay $30 to each first-place finisher and $20 to each second-place finisher. That is applicable to all divisions and all flights, total funds to be dispensed from the GHMA general fund. All monetary amounts will be issued in terms of pro-shop credit to the head pro Ken Gemmell.
